This painting is an homage to  my culture as an Muslim African American whose tradition goes all the way back to the Nation of Islam under the leadership of The Honorable Elijah Muhammad back to the 1930s.
The Bean pie was a creation of persons in the Nation islam who created a unique desert for the followes at the time and it was also a source of income to sell for the men.
We are the indigenous Ameican Muslims of the United States of America and we are proud to share our culture with all people.
